This project is inspired by a stretch of worn, potholed road that I usually take by car. I figured out that every time I rode it, the voices and sounds emitted by the car were the same. The car acted on the rode actually as a playhead on a stretch of cassette tape.
So I took a panorama photo of the road and turned it into a loop. As this tape turns, a webcam reads it as video signal and a software renders it as audio. The light spots count as high, while the darker ones as low tone sounds.
This is my sound interpretation of decay, lack of maintenance and bad infrastructure aesthetics.
I thank Zoltán Kovács a million for creating the software for this.
